Review and Swatches: Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lipsticks

Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte just got its way here in the Philippines last February 2016. It was launched in the US last 2014 and currently has 20 shades in the collection. Unfortunately, Maybelline only released 10 15 out of the 20 shades here, lacking of nudes and other shocking pinks.

The lipsticks are enclosed with a purple matte cap and a silver body when opened, it basically looks the same as those from the same Color Sensational line. It really looks so classy though.

Each product contains 4.2g of lipstick. And I think that’s good enough to last you for about 6 months of everyday use. Each lipstick retails for P299.00. They are just so beautiful and affordable for you to ignore.

L-R: Touch of Spice, Ravishing Rose, Faint for Fuchsia, Mesmerizing Magenta, Vibrant Violet, Craving Coral, All Fired Up, Siren in Scarlet, Rich Ruby, Divine Wine

The lipsticks themselves are to die for. They are creamy, long lasting, rich in color, and of course, matte! They glide smoothly on the lips, very pigmented I must say, 1-2 swipes will be enough to give the lips a full opaque coverage, though some of them are a little bit patchy during application, but you can always build them up. They have this vanilla scent that some may find a little annoying, but the scent is tolerable and will eventually vanish after 10-20 minutes. Take note these are not kiss-proof, they do transfer. Wear time is probably 5-6 hours without eating and a little drinking, and will leave a decent stain after a full meal.

What I don’t like about them is that because they are so creamy, they tend to leave a line at the back of the lippy once you used them. Look!

I’m afraid that they may break anytime. And it will of course break my heart too. I am just so in loved with them.❀ And if there’s a group of lipsticks that I’ll choose to stay with me for the rest of my life, it’s them. So, I’m really hoping that they won’t get broken that fast.

Medium-dark rosy plum

This is actually their best seller! The first one I got. I bet this will suit most skin tones. It’s a mauve but still has a warmth in it. This is good for everyday use, and will probably be suitable for any occasion.

Cool-toned petal pink

At first, I thought this won’t suit me because it has a strong blue tone in it. But as I look at myself in the mirror, the color eventually adjusts with my skin tone. And I’m starting to like this one now. I’m going to wear this on a Sunday – church and family day.

Hot pink with a blue undertone

This one is such a playful color. I love fuchsia pink lipsticks, they are so fun to wear, and I can wear this anytime of the day! My everyday pink, probably.

Deep purplish-pink

This one is a very wearable pink that seems to have a frost in it but still has a matte finish. I was mesmerized by the frost, literally. It’s very unusual for a matte lipstick to have a frost in it. Well, I’d probably wear this on a night out with the girls.

Bright and bold violet

This is actually the most interesting shade out of the bunch. It’s a very challenging color to wear. It will definitely make a statement once on the lips, though it can’t be worn on a daily basis. Well, I would like to wear this on a party. Let’s just see if I won’t be getting everyone’s attention then.

This one is so beach appropriate. The color is as hot as the sun, and I’m pretty sure I’ll be wearing this a lot this summer.

Bright coral pink

Another summery color. This one is a little bold and bright, but will literally boost your confidence. Gonna be wearing this as an alternate color with Craving Coral this summer!

This is a little similar with Rich Ruby, except that this one has a pink tone in it. This is such a wearable red, because it is not as intimidating as the other reds around there. Such a pretty color! Appropriate for the working girls.

Blue-toned true red

This is a true red lipstick, similar to MAC Ruby Woo. And because it is blue-toned, it will make your teeth  look whiter. This is one of the colors that can be easily pulled-off by everyone because it will definitely suit most skin tones. This is appropriate on a date night, for that seductive and sexy look.

Dark wine red

This one sells like hotcake just like Touch of Spice. No wonder it is because the color is just so pretty! This one is described as a marsala color. A dark red with a plum undertone. I’m into dark and nude lipsticks these past days and I’m considering this one to be one of my everyday lipsticks.
