Review: Detail Make Over Contour and Blush Effects Palette

Contouring, highlighting, strobing, and the like are so over-the-top these days, and we can’t deny that we, Filipinas, are also drawn to this trend. I, myself, literally enjoy it so much because my big round face is in need of a little fixing, and contouring is the key to help me create an illusion of a slimmer face. I love seeing my face with an imaginary cheekbones too. *kilig*

Cream and powder products have been the most famous medium to achieve a well-sculpted cheekbones. And for beginners like me, the best way to start your contouring career is by using powder products. A palette which has everything will save you from spending more than what you need. High-end highlighting and contouring products are inherently expensive. Well, dupes/alternatives will not exist without a purpose. Of course, there is always a product that will do the same job at a lower cost. And should I go farther if a local brand carries with it the palette that I need?

Detail Make Over, a newbie in the cosmetics industry here in the Philippines, just recently released its first ever Contour and Blush Palette. They initially released it at 50% off for the first 50 buyers, and I was lucky enough to be one of those. 😊😍

Each product retails for P499.00 and is available online and on some malls nationwide. You can check out their Instagram account for more details: @cosmetix.unlimited and @detailmakeover.

The palette contains 2 contour powder, a bronzer, 2 blush, and a highlighter.

Each contains 4.5g which is good enough to last your for a year or so for occasional use.

The packaging is pretty simple, it’s just a matte black carton box which is very similar with the City Color Contour Palette’s packaging.

It has some tips inside on how to use each product correctly. I found that the instructions is a little similar with that of the City Color’s.

Once you opened it, you will see the product name at the bottom of each. I think they had a little typo on the HIGHLIGHTS part. But that’s not a biggy though.

Each one is a little powdery but is really pigmented. I highly suggest to tap the excess powder to avoid overdoing it. Blending is not an issue though, so you don’t need to worry for committing future mistake or a harsh line. Staying power is about 3-4 hours when you will need a little retouch.

I really love the bronzer in it. It has been my favorite of all those that’s included in the palette. The color just suits my skin tone very well, and it appears to look natural when blended well.  This palette will probably suit most skin tones because of the versatility of the colors in it. This is a good buy because you will get everything you need in just a palette. Handy and affordable!
